The Special Interest Group on September 15th is the third for our group of accessories designers. These three designers have been in business for a few years and have a few legal questions about their businesses and their products.
Please note that this discussion is meant for everyone to learn from each other. We ask that you come prepared with questions you would like to ask or issues you’d like to discuss.
Questions to address:
-Copyrighting 101- what is protectable?
-What is the legal process of forming a partnership?
-IP and trademarking
-How does licensing work?
-How do all of these issues work internationally?
-Small claims court- what is the process and is it worth it?

Katie’s pieces have been showcased in local publications like the Chicago Reader and she has received international attention, most specifically in Japan. Her pieces can be found at independent stores and at her favorite, art fairs. www.dollybirddesign.com
