Saper Law Clients Featured at 2015 SXSW Film Festival

Saper Law clients Kevin Pang and Mark Helenowski are at South by Southwest this weekend in Austin, Texas, for the world premiere of their feature-length documentary, “For Grace.”  The film, which was accepted into the 2015 South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival, is the culmination of more than three years of filming, editing, and producing by Pang and Helenowski.  The documentary follows renowned chef Curtis Duffy and tracks the creation of Duffy’s restaurant, Grace, from concrete box to its opening night.

This is the first feature-length film for both Pang and Helenowski.  Pang, a staff writer for the Chicago Tribune, and Helenowski, a Chicago-based filmmaker, originally started filming what was expected to be a short video piece for the Tribune.  However, Pang and Helenowski quickly realized that there were many dimensions to Duffy’s story, and the film took on a life of its own.

Pang and Helenowski retained Saper Law to establish their production company, For Grace Film LLC.  We have also assisted them with negotiating various contracts including image releases and music licenses.  Saper Law continues to assist Pang and Helenowski as they navigate the film circuit for the first time.
