Additional Defendants Have Been Sued In ME2 Productions Copyright Infringement Lawsuits

ME2 Productions, LLC continues to file copyright infringement lawsuits against defendants who it alleges unlawfully acquired, copied and transferred its 2016 movie, Mechanic: Resurrection, via file-sharing software called BitTorrent. Using this mechanism, hundreds of Internet subscribers allegedly illegally downloaded ME2 Productions’ action-thriller movie, starring Jason Stratham, Jessica Alba and Tommy Lee Jones, without paying the appropriate license fee. To date, the company has filed numerous complaints in the Northern District of Illinois, targeting roughly 800 Chicagoland Internet users. ME2 Productions is seeking damages as well as attorney’s fees and costs.

ME2 Productions, LLC uses software to track and identify the IP addresses associated with unauthorized downloads of Mechanic: Resurrection. The company then files a copyright infringement lawsuit in federal court identifying each defendant by an IP address until it can subpoena the defendant’s subscriber information from their Internet Service Provider. Typically, the ISP will contact the subscriber and provide him or her with an opportunity to challenge the subpoena or the suit itself before the ISP reveals their information.
