Dallas Buyers Club, LLC has recently filed hundreds of copyright infringement lawsuits.  The lawsuit targets individuals who have allegedly downloaded the Oscar-winning film via BitTorrent. As a result of a large-scale and sophisticated BitTorrent raid, Dallas Buyers Club, LLC has linked hundreds of illegal BitTorrent downloads to specific IP addresses.  Each download potentially constitutes copyright infringement (an unauthorized reproduction of a copyrighted work) liable for damages up to $30,000 ($150,000 if the infringement was committed willfully) and not less than $750. What the Aereo Decision Means for TV Technology

American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. v. Aereo, Inc. Aereo is a streaming video service that allows subscribers to watch and record shows transmitted from local television stations for just $8 a month.  In April, the United States Supreme Court heard arguments regarding the legality of Aereo’s streaming service. The Court had to determine whether Aereo is a legal service for customers that gives more control over how users watch television or a barefaced violation of copyright law.  In late June, the Supreme Court ruled that Aereo violated copyright laws by retransmitting broadcast signals without paying the requisite licensing fees. Amazon vs. Google: A “Non-Compete” Competition

Shining a spotlight on non-compete agreements, Amazon is suing former Amazon employee (now Google Employee) Zoltan Szabadi for his alleged violation of his non-compete agreement with Amazon.  The lawsuit will be closely followed by the tech industry as Amazon and other large companies seek to ascertain the acceptable scope of limiting their employee's ability to work in the same industry with competing organizations. Facebook and User Privacy: Some Unexpected Changes

Two recent Facebook privacy changes have been in the news - and they bring both good and bad news for Facebook users and privacy advocates.
