FOX 32 Chicago Interviews Daliah Saper about Revenge Porn and Cat-Fishing Allegations against IL State Rep, Nick Sauer

By Categories: News, Press

In light of the recent revenge porn and cat-fishing allegations against Illinois Representative, Nick Sauer, FOX 32 Chicago’s Sylvia Perez and Anita Padilla interviewed Daliah Saper on Good Day Chicago on February 6 to discuss the scope and legal consequences of revenge porn as well as how to protect one’s privacy and rights in an increasingly digital environment.

Having represented numerous victims of revenge porn, Daliah explained how revenge porn may affect “not just teenagers, but also politicians, professionals, and adults. We are sharing more images as a society, especially with online dating apps, and it’s become a part of our courtship.”

Daliah also explained that Illinois is one of 41 states and DC that have enacted revenge porn laws that criminalize the distribution of sexual images without consent, and that as a society “it’s really great that we’ve shifted from blaming the victims to saying that revenge porn is a crime.”

To protect your personal images, Daliah suggests “use your own device, [make sure] that the device isn’t backed up to joint accounts”. If the stakes of unauthorized release are really high, “don’t do it”.

If a person becomes a victim of revenge porn, Daliah advises reporting to law enforcement right away to ensure “the evidence associated with these images is still preserved and accessible”.
