Fox32 ChicagoNOW Interviews Daliah Saper about Facebook Settlement Payouts
Fox32 ChicagoNOW turned to Daliah Saper, a leading authority in media and IP law, to explain what Facebook’s $725 million settlement means for everyday users. The settlement, which stems from high-profile privacy violations such as the Cambridge Analytica scandal, allows U.S. Facebook users active between May 2007 and December 2022 to claim a payout.
More than 18 million people have already filed valid claims, with average payments expected to be around $28 per person. Distribution is in progress, and recipients will be notified by the settlement administrator. Daliah emphasized that this landmark case sends a clear message: protecting consumer data is no longer optional, and companies must implement transparent policies and safeguards—or face legal and financial repercussions.
