How It Began

AudioMazes was founded by Sophia DuJardot and Karl Haycock—two accomplished creatives with decades of experience in audiobook production, narration, and sound design.

After collaborating on numerous projects, they saw firsthand the limitations of the traditional audiobook model: creatives were undervalued, storytelling was constrained, and listeners were confined to passive experiences.

So they decided to rebuild the system from the ground up. AudioMazes was created with a bold mission: to put human creativity first, empower storytellers, and transform listeners into active participants in the narrative.

AudioMazes has quickly earned industry recognition for its innovation in storytelling and sound design, including nominations for two Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAs) Awards in 2025 for Best Ensemble in Audio Drama and Best Sound Design.

In 2026, the company was named Startup of the Year by WomELLE, and co-founder Sophia DuJardot was honored as Female Founder of the Year.
